Sallaum Lines has taken delivery of MV Ocean Legacy, a new pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) that expands the company’s Ocean Class fleet and introduces additional LNG dual-fuel capacity.
The vessel was constructed at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu) and follows the entry into service of sister vessel MV Ocean Explorer one month earlier. Sallaum Lines said the delivery reflects its strategy to modernize tonnage and improve efficiency while lowering emissions.
Ocean Legacy is approximately 199.9m long with a beam of 37.7m and has capacity for 7,400 vehicles across 13 cargo decks. The ship is equipped with LNG storage capacity of between 36 and 37.8 tons, intended to support long-haul voyages with reduced emissions.
The PCTC features LNG dual-fuel propulsion and energy-efficiency measures aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions and other air pollutants while maintaining operational reliability and fuel flexibility.
Sami Sallaum, chairman of Sallaum Lines, said the vessel would strengthen fleet performance and environmental credentials. “The addition of MV Ocean Legacy marks a practical step in strengthening our fleet and improving its environmental performance,” he said. “This delivery reflects our ongoing investment in modern vessels designed to reduce emissions and improve operational efficiency. It also supports our objective of providing dependable shipping services while adapting to evolving regulatory and industry requirements.”
Sallaum Lines said the Ocean Class vessels are designed with optimized hull forms, advanced automation and flexible cargo configurations to improve turnaround times and operational performance. Ocean Legacy joins Ocean Breeze and Ocean Explorer as part of the company’s next-generation PCTC fleet.
The company added that the program is intended to support lower-carbon ro-ro transportation and align with evolving regulatory requirements for emissions and efficiency in maritime shipping.
